Capital Support Accountant

Your new role
You will support the production of accurate financial information to analyse and present to both finance and non-finance staff, managing the Trust's Fixed Asset register.

• Investigate and analyse variances from the capital plan and work with capital budget holders to understand financial trends and expectations;
• Support the production of high-quality monthly monitoring reports and undertake variance analysis on the capital programme, i
• Work closely with the Financial Accounts team and Reporting Accountant
• Ensure monthly analysis of capital transactions are carried out and reconciliations are made
• Investigate variances and make the necessary expenditure adjustments in the ledger.
• To be responsible for creating, designing and evaluating non-current asset procedure notes for review by the Capital Accountant.
• Assess when capital schemes are complete and make the necessary accounting entries to transfer them from assets under construction to the relevant fixed asset category;
• Act as the first point of contact for VAT reclaims on all capital expenditure
• Overseen by the Capital Accountant, assist with the monthly monitoring and production of capital reporting in the Finance Report and other mandatory returns to NHS England;
• Assist with the production of the capital sections of the Trust annual accounts to meet statutory and audit requirements, supported by high quality working papers;

What you'll need to succeed
You must have good technical accounting skills and some knowledge of IFRS. Strong analytical / MS Excel skills.
Ideally AAT qualified to Level 3 and working knowledge of IFRS 16.
