Care and support worker - Residential
Bury has over 100 Care and support services that work tirelessly to ensure vulnerable adults remain living and thriving independently in our communities.
We currently have a number of vacancies for Care and Support Workers have a keen interest in supporting the elderly in residential care home and/ or supported living services. All of our roles will involve supporting the elderly with mobility difficulties, personal care, social activities attending appointments and genuinely providing companionship to avoid loneliness. Our ambition as a sector is to allow people to live as independently as possible so we also help with accessing hospital appointments, collecting prescriptions and having as much as access to social events, religious activities and family commitments.
This may also include managing complexities such as Dementia, Stroke rehabilitation and other age-related illness.
A selection of the providers we work with are Brookdale, Starmount Villa, Hamilton House, Next Stage and Salvation Army.
We are looking for Care and support workers who:
- Enjoy supporting others and are able to demonstrate a kind, considerate and committed nature.
- Understand the practicalities of a position that genuinely supports other people’s lives.
- Really enjoy talking and listening to people from different generations.
- Understands person-centred Care and is able to demonstrate the values to working in the care sector.
- Can demonstrate courage and deal with the challenges of the nature of this work.
- You will need to have great communication skills and have native or fluent spoken and written English.
- Able to follow and articulate care plans and follow information and instruction from colleagues, service users and families.
- We would love you to be really proactive, be able to react on initiative and get stuff done well and in a timely manner.
- Be physically able to support others.
- Enjoy working as part of the sector and a valuable asset to a care provider business.
- Work hard and want to succeed and progress in this vocation.

Care and support work can be hugely challenging, but the outcomes are incredibly rewarding and make a significant difference to other people lives. People love this sector because it gives them a sense of purpose a “vocation” within a career. It’s quite unlike any other job because the reward is so emotive. Hours, Salary and Benefits
- Hours can range from PT to FT and vary from day to night work. We are keen to match your hours to those of the services we recruit for. Please always note that sometimes the hours that suit you, don’t always meet the needs of vulnerable people you are supporting so we always ask for flexibility and understanding with this.
- Hourly rates can range from £10.42 – £11.50 plus night work supplements on occasions.
- Benefits : these range between providers, and we can supply additional information upon application and screening.
