The Care Assistant will work under the direction of the nurse manager or senior Care Assistant, providing care and support to residents in a nursing home setting. This includes assisting with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as providing emotional support and companionship.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Help with mobility and transfer of residents, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, engaging in conversation, activities, and hobbies.
- Help with meal presentation and serving, ensuring that residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Monitor and record changes in residents’ health status, reporting any concerns or changes to the nurse manager or senior Care Assistant.
- Follow care plans and treatment protocols for each resident, providing care that is safe, effective, and individualized.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, following infection control and health and safety procedures.
- Attend training and development sessions as required, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills in care practices.
- Collaborate with other members of the care team, including nurses, therapists, and physicians, to ensure the best possible care for residents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the nurse manager or senior Care Assistant.
Working Conditions:
The Care Assistant may work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, depending on the needs of the nursing home.
