Graceland Care Home is a 70 bedded Care Home situated in the Altonhill area of Kilmarnock. We are a family run business, who believes in providing high quality, person-centred care for each of our residents.
We have a vacancy for a Laundry Assistant at Graceland Care Home. This is a part-time position with hours from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The role operates on a two-week rotating schedule, with staff working Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday one week, and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday the next.
As a Laundry Assistant at Graceland Care Home, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene standards of our facility. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the laundry operations efficiently, ensuring that all linens, bedding, and residents' clothing are cleaned, dried, folded, and stored appropriately. This role requires attention to detail, organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and store linens, bedding, and residents' clothing according to established procedures and standards.
- Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently, including washers, dryers, and ironing machines.
- Inspect laundry for stains, damage, or items left in pockets, taking appropriate action to address any issues.
- Handle residents' clothing with care, ensuring items are returned to the correct individual and following any special instructions for delicate fabrics or items.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the laundry area, including regular cleaning of equipment, surfaces, and floors.
- Monitor inventory levels of laundry supplies and submit requests for replenishment as needed.
- Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines to prevent the spread of germs and maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other staff members and departments to meet residents' needs and ensure smooth operations within the Care Home.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting, is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately, with attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of laundry equipment operation and maintenance is preferred.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry heavy loads as required.
- Willingness to undergo any necessary training related to the role.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £11.44 per hour
