Situated in a lovely urban pocket of Derby, Markeaton Primary School is a two storey Edwardian building filled with happy, polite and conscientious children who are enthusiastic about the world around them. We are also an enhanced resource base for Visually Impaired pupils.
We wish to appoint a Caretaker/Cleaner for daily and periodic maintenance and cleaning of the school buildings and grounds, maintaining a safe environment and a high standard of cleanliness.
You will undertake porterage and handyman duties, operate cleaning equipment and may deputise for the Site Manager when required (e.g. unlocking and/or locking up). You will work as part of a small team, managed by the Site Manager and School Business Manager.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, enthusiastic, flexible, and have experience of working in a school environment. They will have good DIY skills and be reasonably fit and able to carry out some manual handling and lifting. A good health and attendance record is essential, as is the ability to use their initiative to organise and prioritise their work.
At Markeaton Primary School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and a medical check.
