Caretaker/cleaner

The Percy Community Centre is a small independent charity in the centre of Bath. We provide affordable room hire and community activities for all ages.

You will be one of two part-time Caretaker/cleaners jointly responsible for ensuring the security and cleanliness of the Centre.

The proposed times for your work are Thursday and Friday evenings plus Saturdays daytime.

The role includes the following duties:

· To undertake cleaning of the Centre, both inside and out;

· To be responsible for the day-to-day security of the premises;

· When required, to open up and to ensure that the premises are secure last thing at night, according to timetabled activities;

· To ensure that all areas are prepared ready for bookings and that set-ups meet the users’ requirements;

· To act as a named key-holder for the Centre and to respond to emergency call-outs when required;

· To act as Centre liaison in the absence of office personnel including taking bookings and accepting payments;

· To report repairs and/or undertake routine maintenance, within capabilities, under the direction of the Centre Manager;

· To arrange relevant contractors’ appointments outside office hours;

· To be responsible for the safe storage of tools, machinery and cleaning chemicals and to monitor relevant stock levels;

· To provide cover in the absence of other caretaking staff as required;

· To ensure Centre equipment is stored away safely and securely;

· To deal courteously with all users and staff of the Percy Centre;

· At all times to comply with the Centre’s policies and practices;

· To work within health & safety guidelines in the workplace;

· To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.
