Job summary
The Directorate of Defence Communications (DDC) provides a world-class communication service for Defence, through a coherent network of motivated and effective communicators, military and civilian, who in the Whole Force ethos work together to enhance the public’s attitude to Defence, so that they trust the actions of the UK Armed Forces, and the MOD, at home and abroad.
The Digital Channels Officer plays a crucial role in the department to plan, create, manage, publish and monitor digital content within the external communications team. Working as part of a new digital function, the role has a strong delivery bias and is tightly docked to one of three DDC portfolio teams (Operations, Equipment, Policy and Personnel) providing dedicated digital expertise.
The role will ensure we take a data-driven approach and put our audiences at the heart of our outputs. You’ll be responsible for the evaluation and continuous improvement and performance of digital content.
Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Applicants can request further information regarding how this may work in their team from the Vacancy Holder (see advert for contact details). Defence Business Services cannot respond to any questions about working arrangements.
The position is full-time with hybrid working and advertised at 37 hours per week.
