The Homelessness Prevention & Response Team try to prevent homelessness wherever possible. We offer advice and support about housing options to those that are homeless, those who may be at risk of losing their home, have other urgent housing needs, or who simply want to know more about the options that are available to them..
The purpose of the role is:
- To prevent homelessness through a variety of activities with a particular focus on helping applicants who have a history of offending/have spent time in custody and who are homeless but do not have a priority need.
- To work with those who are about to be released from custody
- To manage a personal caseload, preventing homelessness whenever possible
- To identify housing options and assist applicants to overcome barriers to housing with a view to helping applicants who are not ordinarily owed a duty to secure accommodation
- To make homelessness decisions and manage cases to conclusion
- To ensure that high quality customer services are provided at all times
- To identify support needs and to refer to appropriate services
- To identify a source of PRS accommodation and increase supply for use by this client group
- To work alongside other teams within the Homeless Team to manage the case to achieve the best outcome
