Compass Recovery College is a mental health and wellbeing organisation, where free courses are co devised and co delivered with people with lived experience of mental illness, clinical staff and other professionals.
Ours courses focus on recovery and self-management skills. Courses vary in length and style. All our courses are free and are designed and delivered by people with mental health challenges

About the role
The role of Peer Support Worker has been developed specifically for people with experiences of living with a mental health condition or being a carer of someone with a mental health condition.
As an integral and highly valued member of the Compass Recovery College team, the Peer Support Worker (PSW) will provide formalised support and practical assistance to service users in order for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery process.
The Peer Support Worker will act as a recovery champion within the team and an ambassador of recovery for the Public Health and Wellbeing Team, Recovery College, RBC with external partner organisations.
Peer Support Worker positions are paid roles, with the hours worked to be agreed on an individual basis, and may vary from time to time, including on health grounds.
You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you’ll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.
