The Opportunity
Given recent project trajectories, our client is currently seeking an ambitious Buyer to work in the Head Office based in Deeside to help implement the category strategy within poultry to increase sales and accelerate margins.

The role
As a Category Buying Manager, you will think quickly and act decisively to build strong relationships with suppliers, implement the category strategy to help maximise sales and improve margins. Your credibility to influence at a very senior level in retail is vital. You will need to be able to act as a leader and role model for others in the team, by ensuring that the company keeps one step ahead of retail trends, competitor activities and consumer demands.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
- Must have food experience whether from a retail or food services background, big category at least 25% market share will involve foreign travel to far east, etc. with this role and poultry a distinct advantage.
- A proven track record in delivering and maintaining a distinct point of difference across your category is essential.
- Buyers with experience working in Food Retail would have the ideal knowledge required for this role. You must have experience of reviewing suppliers, introducing new sources and negotiating trading terms.
- Your Buying experience will give you the knowledge to oversee supply, ensure continuity and product availability.
- A background in a complex, constantly changing food retail environment would be ideal.
