Following a major acquisition, the business now stands as one of the largest pharmaceutical providers in the world.
In light of this, the business hired a group Procurement Director to transform the procurement function.
Currently, the procurement team consists of twenty generalists operating in a flat structure across the UK & Europe sourcing everything from transportation, IT, facilities, business services, and capital equipment.
You will spearhead the transformation of the energy category across the business by utilising data to understand energy market trends and working closely with internal stakeholders to develop and implement a pan-European solution for the organisation.
This role is not only about achieving cost savings but it offers a fantastic opportunity to have a lasting impact by driving the use of renewable energy, phasing out the use of gas from energy spend, and centralising sourcing for procuring energy across the organisation.
Given the federated structure of the business, it allows you to adapt to the unique challenges of different markets while still maintaining a centralised and strategic approach to effectively meet the needs of the various regions.
The role necessitates a candidate with the gravitas and credibility to effectively influence international stakeholders while fostering a collaborative approach to change management.
Critical areas of focus:
- Conducting an energy data mapping analysis to understand current coverage positions and the types of energy being procured across Alliance Healthcare.
- Implementing and managing Power Purchase Agreements to ensure they meet the organisation’s needs.
- Centralising the sourcing and strategy for procuring energy across the UK & Europe.
- Increasing the use of renewable electricity
- Eliminating the use of gas from energy spend
- Reducing consumption and dependency on the external grid by implementing on-site solar, heat-source pumps, efficient building design, and wind sources.
