Location: South Kensington and White City campuses Job Summary The Institute for Security Science and Technology (ISST) was founded in 2008 as one of Imperial College London's Global Challenge Institutes. Working across research, innovation and education, our mission is to challenge the narrow perception of security and demonstrate the breadth and depth of a topic that touches everyone in society, wherever they are in the world. Societal resilience is increasingly recognised as a security challenge and priority by local and national governments, inter-governmental organisations, and nationally important companies. A core component of the ISST is the Centre for Excellence for Active Resilienceand Security (CARS), a College wide initiatives, to serve as a research, innovation and engagement hub for societal resilience at Imperial. Duties and responsibilities The ISST is seeking to appoint a Centre Manager, integral to the delivery of the Centre’s mission and programme of activities. The person appointed to this post will have a critical role in establishing operational excellence within the Centre, to underpin and drive the expansion of research, networks and funding stream and ensure milestones are achieved and reported on. This is an exciting, challenging and varied role working with senior internal and external stakeholders and leading academic researchers to deliver a high-impact research centre. You will play an important role in supporting collaborations between researchers across the centre. You will have experience of managing partnerships and supporting the implementation of governance frameworks to ensure transparency. Essential requirements An undergraduate level degree or equivalent qualification Relevant and significant experience of operations management in a research, higher education or policy environment Experience of managing a wide portfolio of activities, projects and programmes in an academic environment. Proven ability to engage with and utilise a network of contacts including senior stakeholders in government, industry and across academia Experience of budget planning as well as managing resource and budget to maximise value Experience with working with senior academics and contributing at a senior level Proven analytical and problem-solving skills Further Information Please contact ISST/CARS Operations Director j.lac@imperial.ac.uk if you have any questions.
