The Finance service in Camden has an ambitious vision to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality, value-added service with excellent financial controls. We will do this through an exciting journey of continuous improvement, change, challenge, and innovation. To be successful we’ll need to constantly adapt to meet the needs of the organisation. The first phase will realign and increase the capacity of the Finance department, so Camden will be recruiting a number of finance roles over the coming months.
The Chief Accountant plays a key role within the Finance Senior Management Team. The role will oversee financial reporting, systems accounting and controls and will be tasked with implementing a series of improvements that will include adjustments to working practices but also cultural change. As part of this journey, you’ll be expected to develop, train and lead a successful and robust financial reporting function to eventually become best in class. Some of the key responsibilities will include.
- Delivering key financial strategies
- Implementing change throughout the organisation
- Overseeing the production of the annual statement of accounts
- Ensuring the Oracle ERP system is continually improved
- Providing reports to members and senior officers on emerging issues
To be suitable for the role you must be a dynamic and ambitious qualified Accountant with detailed knowledge of Local Government Finance and an eye for detail and technical accounting, with proven track record in a senior management finance role. Experience of closing of financial accounts and production of accounts within statutory deadlines and driving through change is essential.
