Location: Hybrid – London
Hours: 28 hours (worked over a 4-day working week)
Contract: Permanent, Part Time
Salary: Circa £70k per annum pro rata

ABOUT THEM

Our client is the UK’s leading charity for the promotion of homeopathy, a natural and effective form of complementary medicine. Their mission is to raise awareness of homeopathy as a stand-alone medicine or as part of an integrative treatment plan. They believe everyone should have access to high-quality homeopathy from medically trained or registered healthcare practitioners.

• They are the patients’ voice for homeopathy in the UK
• They run a network of charitable clinics around the UK, offering free and low-cost treatments to UK patients in need, and who lack the funds to pay for healthcare
• They raise public awareness of homeopathy through social media, their supporters’ magazine Health & Homeopathy, real-life patient stories, and will soon be launching their online education course for the public to enable acute self-care with homeopathy (note: this is not a practitioner’s course)
• They provide useful online tools for the public – their popular Conditions Directory, and Find A Homeopath Directory
• They provide grants to provide homeopathic care to veterans, disadvantaged, homeless and survivors of domestic violence
• They provide grants to help increase the number of healthcare practitioners who integrate homeopathy into their medical practice or professional services

THE ROLE

They are seeking an experienced strategic and operational leader with a proven track record, to build on their success and develop new strategies for their long-term security. The postholder will:

• In partnership with the Board of Trustees, set their strategic direction, deliver their service goals, set the annual budget, ensure fiscal responsibility, and ensure good governance
• Have a proven track record of income generation or successful grant applications and business development
• Be the Company Secretary. This involves working within the objects in the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association, filing official reports, amendments, minutes, an understanding of investments and financial markets, and liaising with statutory bodies to meet deadlines and respond to queries
• Have experience of leading operational reviews and managing programmes of change
• Recruit, lead, develop, and retain the charity’s core staff
• Have experience of detailed quarterly management accounts, cashflow and statutory accounts (as you will oversee the work of their external Financial Controller)
• Serve, ex-officio, on their Trustee Board and standing committees - providing guidance to ensure proper process and governance, particularly with a view to assessing risk to the charity. You will also provide guidance on the use of restricted funds (including any other charities funds for which our client acts as Trustee)
• Will manage activities undertaken on behalf of the Hahnemann House Trust charity, as Our client is the Trustee of this charity
• Be the key spokesperson. You will engage with patrons, donors, political, charitable, and community leaders, the media, and the public
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and will work collaboratively with their Trustees and partnering organisations to maximize the effectiveness of existing and prospective partnerships
• Provide leadership regarding external communications (press, TV and radio, web, social media, and print), strengthen their brand, build greater awareness of homeopathy, and increase their donors and supporters list

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You will be their operational leader and a brand ambassador for the charity. Therefore, an interest in homeopathy, health and wellbeing, and complementary medicine is essential. You will also:

• Have a proven track record in senior leadership roles
• Have a proven track record in income generation; specifically grant or funding applications
• Have previous success of working with a Board of Directors/Trustees for a charity or non-profit organisation, and cultivating Board Member relationships
• Have some marketing and/or public relations experience
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and multidisciplinary project skills
• Be entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative, and able to work with diverse groups of people
• Have some knowledge and understanding of investments and markets
• Have knowledge and understanding of IT, web, and social media platforms
• Have experience of working with a micro-organisation (less than 10 employees and a turnover under £2 million)

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

• 22 days holiday (based on 28 hours working week) plus bank holidays and extra days off between Christmas and New Year when the office is closed
• A personal wellbeing scheme – £300 to spend annually on anything you would like to boost your own wellbeing, e.g. gym membership, spa day, yoga classes etc.
• They are committed to developing their staff and supporting their career aspirations
• The salary for the Chief Executive role will be circa £70,000 per annum pro-rata
