"significant seven figure capital gain opportunity in well-funded turnaround”
Our client is a differentiated multi-sited proposition operating across a rapidly evolving and consolidating niche market. Whilst historically a commercially strong venture, during the pandemic they endured significant business interruption and an untenable financial position, yet new investment capital has now cleaned up the balance sheet and provided renewed impetus to regain lost ground. With a well-funded and coherent business strategy supported by an ambitious investment house, we seek a commercially focused yet practical CFO to partner the CEO through the investment cycle and onto an eventual exit.
As a key part of senior management your mandate is multi-facetted (i) support the CEO in delivering the necessary business transformation that will create a platform for growth; (ii) further develop a finance function that is ‘fit for purpose’ for the journey ahead – so that’s analysis of the existing functional capability and formulating a plan beyond transformation and onto the further development of people, processes and systems in support of the strategic goals; (iii) provide functional line management and departmental delivery of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, financial & performance monitoring and working capital management; (iv) provide commercial support to the CEO in establishing a coherent growth strategy whilst focusing attention on existing contracts to ensure consistent yields; (v) support the board to achieve a successful realisation - that’s all about driving out the necessary pre-exit efficiencies that will enhance value at exit; and (vi) extend your relationship focus beyond the leadership of your own financial function and supporting the Board, operational peers and managers with insightful financial guidance, whilst externally maintaining strong links with banks, investors and intermediaries.
This is a dynamic role for a highly-experienced CFO (ACA, ACMA) with gravitas and energy – a commercial ‘doer’ who understands the complexity of taking a business through significant restructuring of people and processes. A ‘PE literate’ individual who understands the nuances of growth and commercial delivery throughout the entirety of a PE investment cycle and onto exit. Functionally, it seeks people with a track record of seeing the business through the numbers, pinpointing and challenging contract variances and adding real commercial value by applying logical stewardship and guidance to the boardroom and operations. In terms of sector exposure, we particularly welcome candidates from multi-sited operational businesses with large workforces where the delivery of service level agreements/contracts to time, cost and quality are key drivers – logistics, maintenance, staffing, outsourcing and care sectors are good matches.
