The Opportunity


Salary:
£41,418 to £44,428 per annum (£20,709 to £22,214 per annum, pro rata’d)

Working Pattern: 1 x Full time, 37 hours per week, 1 x Part time, 18.5 hours per week, flexible working options available.

Location: County Hall, Chichester or Bridge House, Worthing (Hybrid working)

We have two fantastic opportunities in our Learning and Development function, currently seeking a qualified social worker to join us as our Children’s Learning and Development Specialist.

There are two posts on offer one full time and one part time post. These are offered as permanent positions.

We are committed to improving our services for the children and families we support in West Sussex. In May 2023 Ofsted Inspectors praised West Sussex County Council’s Children’s Services for its ‘relentless approach to improving practice,’

You will have the opportunity to design and deliver learning activities using a range of methods including face to face training courses and online courses delivered via webinar using MS Teams, interactive workshops and group facilitation, within a quality and professional framework, ensuring that learning objectives are met.

As a Children/Family Social Worker professional you will support all areas of Children’s Services Learning and Development for example Social work, family safeguarding, residential, leaving care and fostering and kinship services.

The role includes supporting service priorities such as the embedding of the Family Safeguarding Model and motivational interviewing techniques.

Family Safeguarding is a strengths-based model and a new way of working with families so that they can stay together, and children can remain safely at home. All our current staff are currently undergoing training on the new model and motivational interview.


What are we looking for?


To be our successful Children’s Learning & Development Specialist, you will need:


  • Excellent collaborative working abilities, be effective in working in partnership to co-design solutions, and have confident presentation skills.

  • The ability to work proactively and think creatively to produce learning solutions that achieve desired outcomes effectively, efficiently and within timeframes.

  • To be able to establish and maintain credible working relationships with key stakeholders.

  • To reflect our values and our empowering culture in all that you do, including the way you work with others, focusing on abilities, enablement, and solutions to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Drive to support and enable others, to be the best that they can be and provide a great service.

  • To demonstrate relevant advanced Social Work theory, practice and knowledge relating to the provision of a professional Social Work service.

  • You will need an advanced understanding of therapeutic intervention.
