Job description

Description

The starting salary for this role is £14.86 per hour PLUS additional £2.30 per hour annual leave allowance.

Interested in earning and learning while making a real difference to a disabled child and their family in Surrey?

We are looking for people who have the passion and dedication to help ensure that children with disabilities are enabled to reach their full potential.

Children with Disabilities Outreach Service provides care and support for children with disabilities in their home or in their local community. Our aim is to provide a quality assured service as part of a child's care plan, with the overall mission of improving outcomes for disabled children in Surrey. We are now looking to grow our team of Support Workers across all areas of Surrey!

Rewards and Benefits

  • Annual leave allowance
  • An extensive Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support health and wellbeing
  • A generous local government salary related pension
  • Lifestyle discounts including gym, travel, shopping and many more
  • 2 paid volunteering days plus 1 team volunteering day per year
  • Learning and development hub where you can access a wealth of resources

Children's Support Workers

We match our Support Workers to the child based on your experience, skills and availability; ensuring we provide a consistent service that is specially tailored both to the child's care plan and your strengths.

This is a challenging but genuinely rewarding career where you will play a key role in supporting children to reach their full potential. This will involve helping them in their own home with personal care and manual handling tasks, but also helping them to access leisure and community opportunities.

We can offer flexible hours before and after school hours, during school holidays and at the weekend. Although we support children across Surrey, we will aim to match you with a child within half an hour of your home. Due to the nature of the role, you should be confident and comfortable in a lone working environment.

We are looking for people with:

  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • An understanding of the needs of disabled children and their families
  • Safeguarding knowledge and experience
  • A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK, and access to a vehicle
  • Flexibility to work at key times: before and after school hours, during the school holidays and weekends

At the heart of it, we are looking for people who are passionate about supporting our disabled children. Although you might not have worked as a Support Worker before – if you have experience of working with disabled children in a different setting, we have a strong in-house training programme that will build on your existing skills and give you the confidence to grow in this career.

For more information, please find the full job description below and refer to this before submitting your application. We also invite you to read our Life at Surrey handbook to see insights of the culture at Surrey and how as a valued employee, you can help shape our Council.

The job advert closes at 23:59 on the 26th February 2024 with interviews to follow.

Please note, this role is not open to visa sponsorship therefore you will need to be able to provide evidence that you are eligible to work in the UK.

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
