Job description

New year, new opportunities!

2024 is going to be an exciting time for Shropshire Council as we invest significantly in transforming and strengthening our Children’s Social Care and Safeguarding services. We have a highly skilled and passionate workforce who make a real difference to the lives of children and families in Shropshire and we are looking for likeminded individuals to join us.

We are recruiting to a wide range of roles across our services and we’re keen to meet with social workers and managers who are already within the sector and want to develop their skills and progress their careers. We’re also keen to hear from people who may have considered working in social care but who have felt discouraged because they’ve not yet secured relevant qualifications. In Shropshire we are committed to ensuring our workers are given the best training available and, through our Personal Development Programme, we encourage career progression using a variety of initiatives such as apprenticeship courses and accreditations.

As part of our Transformation Programme, we are looking to recruit to the following newly created posts:

3 x Personal Advisor for Care Leavers (salary: £34,834 - £36,684 pa)

1 x Permanence Progression Officer (salary: £29,777 – 31,364 pa)

4 x Qualified Social Workers (salary: £37,336 - £46,464 pa – depending on experience and years post qualification)

4 x Specialist Lead Child Protection Practitioners (salary: £47, 420 - £51,515 pa)

5 x Independent Reviewing Officers/Child Protection Conference Chairs (salary: £47,420 - £51,515 pa)

1 x Team Manager – Case Management Service (salary: £47,420 - £53,638 pa)

1 x Team Manager – Children Looked After Service (salary: £47,420 - £53,638 pa)

If you are interested in any of these exciting roles, please review the relevant job descriptions and person specifications on our website which you will find by following the link.

If you would then like to have an informal discussion or ask any questions, please contact our Principal Social Worker, Jennie Lowe by email jennie.lowe@shropshire.gov.uk.

We want this recruitment process to be as dynamic as possible, therefore, in the first instance, you will only need to send your CV and a covering letter outlining which role you are interested in and why you feel you would be an ideal candidate – by email, to jennie.lowe@shropshire.gov.uk . If you are shortlisted for interview, you will be given an interview date plus sent relevant paperwork to complete in advance.
