Claims Handler

Position: Full-Time

Salary : Dependant on experience - £25,000 - £35,000

Location: Bristol 1-2 days per week in the office

ROLE OVERVIEW

Gerrard White are working with our client - an international law firm who are looking for two Claims Handlers to join their growing team. You'll handle claims made against professionals on behalf of leading insurers, managing cases from notification to resolution. This includes reviewing cover, assisting insured professionals, and reporting to insurers as needed.

This role is ideally looking for a candidate who has experience handling claims either in Professional Indemnity OR Property & Casualty and can only accept candidates with right to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review insurance policy terms and report potential issues.
  • Assist insurers in responding to complaints and claims.
  • Negotiate claim settlements within delegated authority.
  • Manage caseloads proactively to avoid unnecessary litigation.
  • Maintain accurate data on the electronic case management system.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support reporting to insurer clients.
  • Implement insurers' reserving policies and control costs effectively.
  • Identify trends and escalate risk information to manage work portfolio profitability.
  • Seek continuous self-development and stay updated with industry changes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with intermediaries, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ensure quality assurance standards are met.

Requirements

  • Experience in claims handling with technical expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with case management systems.
