Job description

JOB PURPOSE

  • Lead and coordinate the activities of the regional Hubs Mobility Advice Service, providing clear advice and personalised support to people for accessing transport solutions.
  • Manage specific Herts Ability (HA) projects at a local level, including involvement in training design and delivery.
  • Collaborate with other mobility centres within the Driving Mobility network, sharing ideas, developments, and cross-centre knowledge.
  • Ensure Quality and Assurance through monitoring accreditation standards, reviewing processes, and managing complaints in line with Data Protection Legislation.
  • Build networks with organisations across East London to increase referrals to the service.

Role Responsibilities:

About the role:

  • Provide leadership on HA’s Hubs Mobility Advice Service, offering alternative transport options to those no longer driving, retiring from driving, or unable to drive.
  • Give accurate information and advice tailored to individuals' mobility needs and personal transport solutions goals.
  • Use professional judgement to identify potential risks when advising clients and liaise with the wider health and social team regarding safeguarding issues.
  • Signpost clients identified at risk of isolation or loneliness to support services and health-related services within their community.
  • Network and engage with relevant statutory, voluntary, and healthcare services, including social prescribers, to raise awareness of the Hubs Mobility Advice Service and HA services.
  • Continually develop and ensure up-to-date research on accessible transport solutions and community services in agreed London Boroughs (North and East London).
  • Complete monthly reporting data for HA and quarterly reporting data for the Department for Transport, detailing service success, challenges, and identifying observed gaps.
  • Complete quarterly reports for the Department for Transport outlining the service’s performance and defining goals and objectives for future years.
  • Undertake case studies, analysing your caseload and illustrating the assistance provided during the year to secure future funding.

About you:

  • Must have held a client-facing role within the health and social care, disability, local authority, public, or charity sectors and/or have experience in collaborative working/partnership within these sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Awareness of individuals' health and socio-economic challenges and the support infrastructure in place, such as needs assessments via local authorities, memory clinics, social prescribers, etc.
  • Good local knowledge of transport services and organisations available to people with a disability in East London.
  • Willingness to visit people in their homes and participate in local journeys to offer travel support to individuals.
  • Ability to travel around East London (and occasionally Hertfordshire) – work is a mixture of office and community-based.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Committed to the provision of a high-quality, client-focused service.
  • Friendly, helpful, compassionate, empathetic, sensitive, and diplomatic.

Hours:

The hours for this role are flexible. The 22.5 hours can be worked any days Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. However, the successful candidate must be available for various events throughout the year. Additional days/hours may be available in the future.

Benefits:

  • 14 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata).
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Supportive and friendly team to help you develop into the role.
  • Auto-enrolment workplace pension.
  • Company mobile phone and laptop.
  • No bank holiday working.
