Job description

Homes for Students, a leading name in purpose-built student accommodation, is on the lookout for a dedicated and talented Client Finance Manager to join our dynamic team in Harrogate. The role will be working 40 hours per week from 8.30am - 5.00pm.

Since our inception in October 2015, Homes for Students has grown into a powerhouse, securing over 40,000 bed spaces across 160 properties for more than 50 different clients. The Role:

As a Client Finance Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the precision and delivery of client reporting and contract requirements. Your expertise in service charges accounting and reporting, along with your commitment to continuous improvement and top-notch customer service, will be your greatest assets in this role.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Timely preparation and submission of monthly management accounts, balance sheets, and cashflow forecasts.
  • Team development, objective setting, and regular one-on-one meetings.
  • Delivery of client contractual financial reporting requirements and support for client annual statutory audits.
  • Review and approval of annual operating budgets.
  • Leading and participating in client meetings from a Finance perspective.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth understanding of service charges accounting and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain composure in high-pressure situations, and make objective decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of accruals, prepayments, monthly management accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Excellent presentation skills and attention to detail.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or QBE.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant management accounts experience with team management.
  • Thorough knowledge of finance software (Navision preferred) and MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint etc)
