The post is linked between the Oncology department at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre and the department of Urology. There are also strong links with the University of Surrey so providing both a wealth of clinical data together with the resources of a University. The post holder will become an integral member of the brachytherapy team and by the end of the post will have gained certified training in both HDR and 1125 LDR Prostate Brachytherapy.There are a number of research projects in place or about to start, and the post holder will be actively involved with and/or run including: Completion of the focal brachytherapy trial We currently have a database with >5000 patients treated over the last 20 years.
There is a medical statistician and medical writer to help with the research and publications. We are undertaking a study on Rectal Toxicity and Spacer Gel. The post holder will gain a comprehensive training in Prostate Brachytherapy with the aim of adding a certified skill set that could be used when applying and becoming a Consultant Clinical Oncologist.
