Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Kubernetes Architect to join our dynamic team. As a Kubernetes Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Kubernetes-based infrastructure to support one of our client's growing application ecosystems.
This role will be our client's first step to a cloud migration, where various applications will be refactored into Kubernetes clusters, originally on-prem. They will then be able to be ported to a cloud platform (still to be determined). This is a huge step to influence they company's move to the cloud.
Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation:
Architect, design, and implement Kubernetes clusters to support containerised applications.
Develop and maintain best practices for Kubernetes deployment and configuration.
Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications on Kubernetes.
Infrastructure Management:
Manage and optimize Kubernetes infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to integrate Kubernetes with existing systems and tools.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for Kubernetes environments.
Security and Compliance:
Implement security best practices for Kubernetes environments.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Conduct regular security assessments and audits.
Collaboration:
Work closely with development teams to understand application requirements and provide guidance on containerization and orchestration.
Collaborate with operations teams to streamline deployment processes and troubleshoot issues.
Provide mentorship and training to team members on Kubernetes best practices.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Respond to and resolve incidents related to Kubernetes infrastructure.
Implement effective troubleshooting strategies and provide support to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Proven experience as a Kubernetes Architect or similar role.
Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Kubernetes cluster design, implementation, and management.
Strong understanding of containerisation concepts and best practices.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Leadership and mentoring skills.
Certifications:
Relevant certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) are a plus.
