- Actively contribute within the Portfolio Control Team, providing support to the first line and second line Teams, working closely with Commercial and Private Bankers and their Executives to ensure the lending book is well controlled and monitored effectively.
- Assist with the management of the growing and well-balanced lending book for the Bank assisting with the unique needs of Owner Managed Independent Businesses and Private Clients. This will include managing and monitoring the Bank’s portfolios of Government. Backed Lending Schemes (CBILS, RLS, BBLs) and administering syndicated/club deal transactions with other Financial Institutions.
- Responsible for reviewing and agreeing process and procedure changes, documenting, and launching them to the frontline and ensuring the risk framework is used to ensure procedures have adequate controls in place to mitigate any identified risks.
- Assist with the design, set-up and testing of systems and procedures to assist the team and the wider Bank.
- To represent the frontline banking business on various regulatory and non-regulatory projects and to manage the actions and implementation of these projects in line with agreed deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management
- Assist bankers and their assistants in monitoring risk issues and identifying early warning indicators across the lending book.
- Help ensure that risk appetite policy is adhered to.
- Monitor covenants across the Commercial and Private Banking Teams, acting as a control checker for covenants being recorded, tested in a timely manner and with accuracy and reported to Credit, when required, by the Banking Teams.
- Prepare monthly reports for the Head of Departments on findings.
- Produce Management Information for exposure levels and metrics for various lending sectors, to analyse, monitor and report to Senior Management and Credit Risk.
- Liaise with Group Legal, Credit and Credit Operations departments to ensure controls are effective.
- Maintain a log of Conditions Subsequent to advise Bankers when the Condition is due to be completed by and to monitor timely completion.
Client Service
- Coordinate with relevant areas of the Bank to deliver an excellent service to the front office client relationship teams and their clients.
- Collaborate across the business to develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure that Client transfers between Relationship Managers and Teams is recorded and recorded within Bank systems.
Risk
- Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.
- Oversee, monitor and track the progress of actions that arise to resolve risk events relating to Lending, involving identifying where procedures could be improved to avoid the event reoccurring.
- Assist with managing the risk and control framework throughout the banking business by ensuring that all process and procedure changes comply with internal and regulatory standards, are documented, understood and embedded within the front-line businesses.
- Support the delivery of the annual Audit/Compliance/Risk Monitoring Programmes, working with the Banking business to ensure that actions are reviewed and resolved within the timescales agreed.
- Assist with the management of a portfolio of front office procedures to ensure they remain up to date and accurate and are reviewed in line with the review cycle.
Business management and improvement
- Support the implementation of change projects within the front office, to represent both the client and relationship management teams ensuring all change is delivered and embedded in line with objectives and time, quality and budget parameters.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the front-line business on banking, system and lending topics. Provide guidance to Teams and individuals when required to support the management of the portfolios and any Bank change initiatives.
