Job description
Lead across the strategic development and subsequent construction of a 400M construction project.
This project forms part of a massive piece of capital investment. As Commercial Manager, you will lead your team across the definition, development, and construction of a major asset with an expected value of between 300M – 400M.
The project is in the very early stages, meaning you will have a real chance to influence. You will help to develop and define the requirement, undertake feasibility studies, optioneering and develop procurement strategy.
The position offers you a lot of flexibility, with Hybrid working and a relatively short working day. You’ll be working with a highly motivated and friendly team.
Core responsibilities:
Development of your team; set standards, manage, motivate, coach and mentor. Recognise talent and assist in the development of those with high potential.
Change control for the project
Development and maintenance of accurate cost plans and cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to support the governance and procurement processes
Management of the project budget, ensuring value for money and validation of costs
Formal cost reviews to ensure alignment of the cost plan and programme, action and investigate deficiencies.
Management of contract cost assessment and acceptance/rejection, assessing compensation events and performing cost analysis.
Production, and delivery, of Monthly Cost Forecasts using the cost plan, activity schedules and referencing the project/programme schedule.
Management of the Programme/Project Risk and Opportunity Register
Management of all contracts, driving compliance and contractual performance.
Close-out of the project, including the development and implementation of project close-out plan(s) to cover defects and warranties
Support with processes, develop new procedures to improve project delivery and to reduce cost and risk
Support tendering and evaluation process including selection of appropriate procurement strategy and contract, and production of pre-tender estimates.
Support the development and maintenance of a culture of world class health, safety, and environmental standards
To be successful in this role, it is anticipated that you:
Will be educated to Degree level or equivalent in quantity surveying or commercial management
Hold Membership of a professionally recognised cost organisation such as RICS or ICES
Have demonstrable experience in working as a Commercial Manager or Lead Senior Quantity Surveyor on a large multi-year project
Be experienced in leading, mentoring and developing teams
On offer is a salary of around 80,000 – 90,000 per annum along with a generous benefits package which includes a 20% bonus, a cash allowance, private medical insurance, rail discount and an enhanced employer pension contribution.
