As a Communications and Marketing Officer foryou'll be responsible for letting people know about the place, how they can visit, marketing these special places imaginatively and effectively.
As a Marketing and Communications Officer at Castle Ward, Murlough and Mournes in the National Trust, you will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies, public relations activities, and communications campaigns. You will play a crucial role in promoting our properties, engaging with visitors, and ensuring that the National Trust's brand is consistently portrayed.
Day to day, you’ll manage and help develop our annual marketing plan to help achieve our ambitious targets, helping us to reach out to new audiences. This will include defining advertising activities and creating promotional materials and updates (across all media platforms, including social media), writing and distributing press releases and representing us on location filming and broadcast media when you need to.
We're looking for someone who can help us reach larger and more diverse audiences for our places and our digital content. You'll work as part of a team to make sure that we're sharing the best stories we can. Spreading the word about places to visit in the great outdoors, and raising awareness of our conservation work is key to what we're about.
What it's like to work hereThis role is based at Castle Ward, however also covers Murlough National Nature Reserve and the Mournes within the National Trust. The position involves both office-based and outdoor work, including attending events and supporting visitor experiences. Some travel may be required to attend meetings or training sessions at other venues.
The Communications and Marketing Officer will report to the Experience and Visitor Programming Manager and work closely with the wider marketing and communications team.
What you'll be doing We have an annual plan covering communications and marketing, and your role from will be to achieve what’s on that plan. We have some ambitious targets that you’ll be aiming at, including reaching new and diverse audiences, so there’s room for creativity and fresh ideas.Your day-to-day work will cover things like creating new content on our web pages, and making sure that existing information remains relevant and accurate, running social media accounts, creating promotional materials and writing and distributing press releases.
You'll be working closely with your colleagues on site and the Trusts regional advisers, known as consultants. You'll be part of a team making sure that we're sharing the best stories we can, with a focus on spreading the word about places to visit and letting people know about the Trust’s conservation work.

- familiar and confident with various marketing techniques, including digital and social media
- experienced in writing and speaking clearly
- someone who puts people first, and understands why great customer service matters
- skilled in working with IT (including Microsoft Office)
- good at solving problems, and able to work on your own initiative
