We are looking for a Part-time Communications Officer to join our client's Corporate Resources department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating communications to deliver agreed outcomes for the council. This role requires a creative and business-like approach, with a focus on audience engagement and maintaining the council’s reputation.
Day to Day of the Role:- Plan and deliver communications activity to manage reputation, deliver behaviour change, or generate income.
- Create high-quality content for various channels including traditional media, social media, online, and internal channels.
- Use and maintain databases for effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities.
- Work as part of multi-disciplined teams to ensure integrated and cost-effective communications.
- Adhere to the council’s corporate brand guidelines and escalate any risks to the council’s reputation.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities and implement research to identify priorities.
- Work in partnership with internal and external teams to achieve corporate objectives and manage emergency situations.
- Monitor resource usage to ensure value for money and performance management.
- Degree or diploma educated.
- A qualification from a recognised professional body in media, marketing, or communications is desirable.
- Experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating communications.
- Proficiency in producing content for various platforms and understanding creative and production processes.
- Knowledge of digital and social media, research and evaluation tools, and equality and diversity communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and manage work under pressure.
- A commercial approach with the ability to spot opportunities and be creative.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt in a changing environment and work outside normal hours as required.
