As a Communications Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting our health and care specialities and directorates. You'll be part of a dynamic team, utilising a wide range of channels to engage with our stakeholders.
The main duties are below: -
- Take ownership of specific communications projects, ensuring alignment with the Clinical Research Network's goals.
- Utilise and support various communication channels, including the website, social media platforms, and newsletters.
- Day-to-day tasks will involve:
- Producing and Editing Engaging Web Content: Craft compelling copy, videos, and images for our online presence.
- Internal Communications: Curate the weekly internal newsletters and publish staff blogs.
- Strategic Social Media Planning: Create dynamic content that resonates with our audience.
- Research and Writing: Develop news articles, press releases, printed materials, and mass email marketing campaigns.
- Case Studies: Interview staff and patients to create impactful case studies.
- Design and Brochures: Design brochures and booklets to communicate effectively.
- Effectiveness Evaluation: Assess the impact of our communications activities.
- As and when face-to-face activities resume, operational responsibility for some of our promotional activity at conferences and exhibitions, including:
- Representing the network on the cross-events group
- Representing and promoting the work of the organisation at external events.
- Liaison with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, provision of appropriate exhibition stands and materials, deliveries, and logistics etc.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the below: -

- Stakeholder Management: Interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders of varying seniority levels.
- Supplier Coordination: Manage relationships with design agencies, printers, and couriers.
- Effective Communication: Engage with the public through face-to-face interactions, written communication, and telephone conversations.
- Project Updates: Keep internal teams and stakeholders informed about project progress.
- Innovative Thinking: Contribute fresh ideas and share best practices within the wider communications team.
- Demonstrable experience of creating strong digital content using creative software to engage stakeholders across a variety of channels.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to use different writing styles for various channels and audiences.
- Web editing experience with a knowledge of accessibility requirements and SEO
- Experience of running effective social media accounts
- Graphic design experience using Adobe InDesign or similar.
- Producing videos and podcasts using audiovisual equipment
- Effective organisational skills demonstrated by a proven ability to successfully manage and complete multiple projects while prioritising your work to manage time effectively and deliver results on time.
- Proven experience of managing events; working collaboratively with internal and external partners
- The experience and ability to evaluate communications campaigns, events and techniques.
- The skills to provide, receive and work with highly complex, sensitive or contentious information.
- Experience and ability to participate constructively in meetings and decision-making processes.
- A clear understanding of the importance of clinical research and the ability to communicate this effectively to others. In depth knowledge and understanding of the role and importance of research in relation to health and/ or social care
- Experience within a complex organisation
