Job Summary:
· To develop and deliver a comprehensive engagement and communications plan to support the council’s Climate Change strategy with both internal and external audiences.
· To work seamlessly between the climate change team and the external affairs team to ensure a joined up approach which maximises impact across this complex programme of work.
· The role is the council’s principal officer to develop and deliver all aspects of communications and public engagement in relation to the climate emergency.
· The role will be managed within the council’s communications and external affairs team to ensure that it is aligned with the council’s other communications priorities and objectives.
· It will also be part of the council’s climate change team where it will contribute to the strategic approach and programmatic work of the council’s climate change response.
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
· To lead on the development, management and delivery of an outward facing communications and engagement programme to ensure that local people and other key stakeholders are informed, listened to and involved in the council’s climate change work.
· To manage the council’s resident engagement in relation to climate change, including driving behavioural change and public campaigning activity.
· To ensure internal communications work is consistent with the council’s external messaging and campaigning.
Essential Experience Required:
· Experience of communicating with residents and stakeholders using a range of different channels.
· Experience delivering inspiring change campaigns.
· Experience of engaging with people at all levels of an organisation and in a variety of different roles, adapting personal style to suit the circumstances.
· Experience of organising events
Essential Qualifications Required:
· Educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and aptitude.
