SalaryWe have an opportunity for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our Community Development team in South Lakeland. This is a varied and challenging role; we are looking for individuals with drive and the right skills who can join us and rapidly contribute to effective working in support of the local community.
This is an incredibly diverse role where the successful applicants will need to be highly adaptable in responding to local community issues, as well as having the organisational skills to initiate, plan and support local projects.
The appointees will collaborate with the team in many areas; developing, initiating and progressing plans and projects that will improve the health and wellbeing of the local community. The role includes supporting local elected members and council managers in delivering key council priorities, facilitating the development of community groups, use of appropriate funding streams and assisting communities to identify and mobilise assets.
This job involves proactive work engaging with a variety of communities and local stakeholders, understanding needs and working to bring together the right support and resources, enabling groups to work towards positive change and development.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidates for this role will have proven experience in Community Development, as well as a strong knowledge of the local area and the drive to make a difference.
Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as well as a strong focus on customer service and the ability to engage with many people, from voices in the community to senior management and elected members. You will need to be able to travel across the South Lakeland area and sometimes further, the role includes some evening and weekend activity.
We currently have 14hrs per week available on a permanent contract.
We also have 37hrs per week available on a temporary contract or temporary internal transfer for corporate colleagues interested in broadening their experience, this temporary contract/internal transfer will run to the end of December 2024.
