Shepherds Down School are seeking to recruit additional Community Governors to their Governing Body.
Shepherds Down School is a thriving primary school for children who have Special Education Needs.
The children have a range of needs from Moderate to Profound & Complex. The school currently has 170 pupils on roll supported by over 100 staff. Our pupil number is proposed to grow to 190 pupils with 20 classes in September 2024.
The school was judged Good in February 2023 and the school continues to be dedicated to securing the best outcomes for children and meeting the challenge of providing the best education for every child.
The governing body's main tasks are:
· to ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction;
· to hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
· to oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
Community Governors are welcomed as valued members of the team and play a vital role in ensuring that the is school managed effectively and its resources are fully deployed to meet the needs of our children. We feel sure that there are community members out there who are prepared to take on this important role and give their time and commitment to helping us to continue to improve the school's performance.
Training and support will be available to help you develop into the role. This will include in-house mentoring and support as well as access to external governor training.
