The role:
To undertake independent conformity and assurance assessments of activities within the operational teams across water production, treatment, and distribution to ensure we are effectively meeting our regulatory requirements. This is a vital role to assure confidence in the effectiveness of policies and procedures and ensure we are working towards ISO9001.
- Implement new quality management systems and processes with the support of internal stakeholders to drive positive change relating to Health & Safety, Water Quality and Operational processes.
- Frequently assess competent operators to understand their level of competency and make recommendations for individual training requirements.
- Implement an audit strategy for assessing and reporting on the effectiveness of existing WQ, H&S and other company policies, processes, and systems.
- Provide a monthly report to key stakeholders on the outputs of key findings and present an update to the Water Quality Steering Group.
- Work alongside the Training & Development Coordinator to ensure training plans meet regulatory requirements.
- Engage with EUSR to arrange audit and evaluation of the companies Competent Operator Scheme to ensure the company retains its recognised status within the industry scheme
- To ensure adherence with all compliance standards and always operate with integrity.
- Support with the development of treatment process operating manuals, working instructions and site compliance documentation (Health & Safety, Environmental and quality).
- Developing Quality Management, Health, Safety, and Compliance systems.
- Conduct safety, quality and process assurance audits on operational staff including external contractors.
- Coach and develop operational staff.
- Regularly report and assure the senior management team on the effectiveness of policies and procedures.
What you will need
- Dynamic and collaborative individual with excellent communication and influencing skills.
- HNC (or higher) in an engineering or scientific discipline.
- IOSH Managing Safely is essential.
- NEBOSH accredited is desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of water quality, water treatment and distribution compliance is preferable.
- Knowledge and awareness of developing training development plans and matrices.
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of Health & Safety practices, regulation, and assessments.
- Proven experience and knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO) and their operation.
- Experience of audit techniques, questioning skills, and research techniques.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Ability to coach individuals during business reviews/audits.
- Report writing - Computer literate, MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- A full UK driving license is essential.
