The opportunity
As we continue our exciting growth plans at 2plan, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Compliance Director to join the Executive team. You will be responsible for the SMF 4, 16 and 17 and leading the 2nd line of defence. You will set the Compliance and Risk strategy, advise the Executive and Board on the business’s adherence to regulatory obligations, and provide assurance of 1st line adherence across the enterprise-wide Risk Framework.
This is a hybrid role with a base in Leeds and some travel to London and Swindon.

Key Accountabilities:
  • SMF 4, 16 and 17 for 2plan Wealth Management Limited with all associated accountability for reporting/behaviour etc.
  • Provide regulatory, Risk Management and Financial Crime expertise to the business in setting policy and adequate control frameworks.
  • Work with Group resources (as defined and agreed) for provision of 2nd line services to 2plan
  • Manage the Regulatory relationship for 2plan and into Openwork as required for an effective and constructive relationship.
  • Deliver an appropriate version of the Openwork Risk Framework and practices into 2plan.
  • Design and deliver an annual assurance and monitoring plan across the key risks and regulatory exposures.
  • Provide independent oversight and 2nd line opinions (where appropriate) to all material business decisions and change initiatives.
  • Advising on regulatory policy, performance and development with reference to the 2plan wealth management proposition
  • Act as a member of the Openwork Group 2nd line of defence management team, contributing knowledge, experience, and advice to the delivery of Group objectives.
  • Ensure effective deployment of resources and development of function capability to meet business priorities within an agreed budget

What will you need to succeed?
  • Proven leadership experience in a 2nd line of defence function.
  • Extensive experience operating within regulated Financial Services businesses with associated products and distribution channels.
  • Direct experience in managing and maintaining positive relationships with regulators.
  • Experience of leading a multi-disciplined function with working knowledge of enterprise-wide Risk Management framework.
  • Extensive knowledge of Financial Services regulation, Data Protection legislation and the legal framework surrounding the provision of financial advice and a regulatory business.
  • Knowledge of operating a Risk Management framework, ensuring appropriate delineation of accountability between lines of defence.
  • Relevant product and distribution channel experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in 2nd line of defence capacity.
  • A confident and articulate communication style with the ability to confidently influence and operate at Executive and Board level.
  • Ability to think and develop plans for the team at a strategic and operational level.
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to build trust with Executive and Board members.
  • Experience in developing and maturing a 2nd line function to deliver the required performance.
