Full time on site position. No remote work option available, candidates must live within a commutable distance to Eastleigh.
Job Purpose / Summary:
The aim of the job is to support yacht owners, managers, and professionals with the provision of compliance, HR and advisory services supporting the Crew Payroll team.
This role will be based in our newly established UK office.
This role is based on 35-hours per week to be worked between 08:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday.

This post holder will report to the Board of Directors
Duties and Responsibilities:
• To support the crew payroll team in all areas of compliance and human resources relating to the employment and payroll of seafarers.
• To provide professional advice and guidance and assist the HR function to yacht owners, yacht managers, captains, crew, and lawyers.
• To provide professional advice and guidance relating to crewing agreements, seafarers’ employment agreements, terms and conditions, policies, procedures, recruitment, and performance management.
• To act as supervisor and mentor to staff working within in the HR team.
• To monitor and audit seafarer qualifications.
• To assist in issues relating to discipline, grievance, capability, sickness, unfair dismissal and more. This may involve supporting affected staff, advising managers or captains, taking notes, attending hearings and appeals.
• To ensure the timely and effective implementation of human resources policies, consulting as necessary with union representatives.
• Participate in the development of HR initiatives and policy development as required.
• Ensure your own Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is maintained in line with professional recommendations.
• Report to the board of directors regarding staff performances.
• Report to the board of directors regarding department performances.
• To promote an environment which is conductive to quality learning and working.
• To contribute to the recruitment and retention of team members.
• To co-ordinate staff, ensuring clear systems of communication are developed within the team and any work-related issues raised by the team are addressed.
• To undertake the professional development review process with staff and support staff with performance issues developing plans to address developmental needs.
• To act as a professional role model to staff, promoting high standards of practice and strong professional values.

Job Requirements / Key Criteria:
Essential
• Management experience at sea as a senior deck officer
• A comprehensive knowledge of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006).
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an approachable, understanding, and non-judgemental working style which engages, influences, and works pro-actively towards remedying difficult situations.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Flag & Classification Society Rules & Regulations.
• Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent command of the English language
• Strong leadership skills
• Able to demonstrate initiative and sound judgement in a calm and professional manner.
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills combined with an ability to prioritise whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy in order to manage deadlines and expectations within a pressurised environment.
Desirable
• Proficient in a second language such as French, Italian, or Spanish
• Very good computer skills (Outlook, Word, Adobe etc)
• Experience of dealing with challenging clients
• CIPD membership, diploma, or certificate.
