Educated Appointments are delighted to be supporting a Norwich based provider of alternative vocational education for young people aged 12-19, to hire a Construction Instructor/Tutor.
Our client would welcome applications from candidates who have worked within construction in one of the following areas:
- Tiling
- Plastering
- Plumbing
- Painting & Decorating
- Carpentry
Teaching experience is benefitial however our client would also welcome applications from candidates who are looking to move into the Education and Training sector and will provide full training and support with this transition.
Based from our clients centre in Norwich, the successful candidate will support on or deliver high quality teaching and learning over a range of courses and levels whilst ensuring the health, safety, safeguarding and well-being of learners, staff and visitors to the Centre in accordance with our clients policies. You will also support all students in achieving their potential by taking a pro-active, enthusiastic and flexible approach in accordance with our clients ethos and operating procedures, policies and corporate strategy
Core Responsibilities
- To develop resources, teaching materials, schemes of work and lesson plans for all lessons as per your timetable
- To plan for new courses and activities at the Centre and externally
- The planning and preparing of all learning activities
- The delivery of teaching and learning for multi skills construction to include painting and decorating, wet-trades, bricklaying, tiling and carpentry
- To work alongside the Internal Quality Assurance Officer to deliver the Internal Quality Assurance process in line with external requirements
- Attend meetings with External examiners as required
- To support the individual progression route for each student
- To support the students to find creative ways to achieve learning across the levels for individuals (especially those with additional needs)
- To support students in community projects to promote engagement and work experience
- Produce individual learning plans (ILP) which will support any behaviour plans
- The evaluation of teaching and learning and assessment of students
- Maintaining group registers, tracking progress and providing feedback to both students, centre staff and student schools
- To positively engage with all students including those that display challenging behaviours, enabling students to be treated as individuals in a person-centred manner
Personal Specification
Essential
- Level 3 Vocational sector specific qualification OR proven industry specific experience
- To hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 award in Education and Training
Desirable
- Teaching qualification PGCE, Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, Cert-Ed, QTLS
- Assessors award
- Information advice and guidance qualification, level 3 or above
- Experience in teaching, mentoring or supporting people to learn
