Contaminated Land / Geo-Environmental Consultant

Our geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy, Red Rock Geoscience, based in Exeter is expanding their team.

Red Rock has a reputation for solving problems on difficult development sites and taking a managed risk approach to challenging geotechnical and geo-environmental problems.

As part of our growth plans, we are looking to recruit a Contaminated Land / Geo-Environmental Consultant to support our geo-environmental design services for a wide range of clientele on a variety of local, national and international projects.

Requirements:

• Understanding of land contamination, Brownfield land issues, and relevant codes of practice and industry standards.
• Organise, collate, and assess desk-based information as part of Phase 1 Desk Studies.
• Design Phase 2 site investigations, organise, supervise, and undertake geo-environmental site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and groundwater and gas monitoring.
• Project manage own work and able to prepare and delivery factual and interpretative reports, including EIA chapters, and design bespoke reporting in accordance with the project requirements.
• Proficient in digital data management.
• Proficient in the development of geological conceptual site models and undertaking qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment.
• Liaise with Clients and the Regulatory Authorities.
• Familiar with H&S policies and procedures and prepare H&S Plans for site investigation and manage health and safety on site.
• Comfortable with team work, including helping younger members of the team and support senior management to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on budget, and to a quality standard to satisfy client expectations and Regulatory Authority requirements.
• Willing to travel for site-based work throughout the UK.

Essential:

• Higher education qualification in a relevant engineering or science subject.
• At least 8 years’ experience in the industry as a geo-environmental or geotechnical engineer.
• Full driving licence.

Desirable:

• Experience in soil and / or rock mechanics and be able and willing to learn new skills to support fields of expertise other than geo-environmental subject area.
• Able to develop own skills, understand the development needs necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, and develop beyond.
