Job title:Content Producer (Project Editor)

  • International Curriculum, Pearson School Qualifications
  • Part-time, 3 days a week until end Feb 2025
  • Role location : This is a hybrid role, and will allow for home working as well as from either our Oxford or London office.
  • Deadline of submission of application is on March 31, 2024.

About the role

The International Curriculum team is seeking a Content Producer (Project Editor) to join our team to manage the development of resources for international schools worldwide and will be responsible for project managing and delivering on time and to budget an ambitious publishing programme.

You will manage the development of print and digital resources from manuscript stage through to publication, working with other members of the publishing and editorial team and other key stakeholders.

Key stakeholders that you will work with include Product Managers, the Rights and Permissions manager, and a range of suppliers (editorial, typesetting, digital content creation). You may also be asked to work directly with authors and other subject matter experts. You will work to ensure content is created on time, to budget, and meets our content and quality guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage projects through to publication, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Create and manage content workflows and schedules.
  • Brief freelance editors and editorial vendors, negotiating terms, schedules and expectations.
  • When required, review manuscripts and provide timely and clear feedback to authors.
  • Provide an escalation point for suppliers on content and process queries.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Rights and Permissions, Design, Media and Technology.
  • Carry out quality assurance checks, ensuring that content delivered meets the brief and providing clear and timely feedback to editorial suppliers.
  • Ensuring editorial style documentation is kept up-to-date and communicated clearly to editorial suppliers.
  • Track project costs in collaboration with the Product Manager.
  • When required, conduct hands-on editing and proofreading of resources, ensuring they fully meet market needs.
  • Develop an understanding of our markets and the learners’ needs to support the development of quality materials.

What we are looking for:

As a Content Producer, you will have a background in publishing, and experience of working with suppliers and freelancers. Experience of hands-on editing and quality assurance is desirable.

You will have good communication and teamwork skills, be organised and self-motivated, and have the ability to work independently.
