We are recruiting for a Control Valve Lead Engineer to join a leading business to be the focal point of knowledge on Control Valves, providing technical support to customers, sales and operations.
The successful candidate MUST have a demonstrable background working with a range of Control Valves including Fisher, Valtek, Masoneilan, IMI CCI and preferably Blakeborough, Introl and Severn
This role would suit a highly experience Control Valve Engineer looking to take a move off the tools in a more technically focused role.
Candidates must be minimum time served to NVQ/ HNC level in a relevant discipline with a Full UK Driving License.
This role will be remote based but you will be required to travel to workshops and field locations throughout the UK. Occasional international travel will be expected.
Role Description
- Ability to pro-actively problem solve
- Ability to provide support, training and mentoring to Control Valve service technicians.
- Experience in servicing most major brands of Control Valves such as Fisher, Valtek, Masoneilan, IMI CCI and preferably Blakeborough, Introl and Severn
- Experience in producing or approving inspection reports, including assessing condition, deciding if and what rework is required, making recommendations for long term improvements.
- Experience in diagnosing cause of Control Valve trim damage and how this relates to the application.
- Experience in making recommendations improve Control Valve performance or upgrading trims.
- Experience of testing (Hydro / Seat / Gas / FAT)
- Background knowledge of Materials and NDE
- Background knowledge of power station systems and Control Valve applications within power stations
- Background knowledge of oil and gas production systems and Control Valve applications within oil and gas
- Knowledge of challenges relative to the valves application and experience in making recommendations to overcome these issues
- Knowledge of instrumentation and ability to tune positioner an instrumentation set up to meet customers dynamic performance requirements (Turbine Bypass / Anit-surge valves for example)
- Knowledge of modern instrumentation (Mainly Fisher DVC) and ability to use diagnostic functions such as taking footprint, selecting most appropriate tuning settings and running performance reports such as step tests
- Knowledge of older valves and instruments and re-working obsolete parts to return to service
Education / Qualifications
- Candidates will ideally be time served and NVQ/ HNC Qualified in relevant Discipline
- Experience in servicing most major brands of Control Valves such as Fisher, Valtek, Masoneilan, IMI CCI and preferably Blakeborough, Introl and Severn
- Full UK driving license
- Strong skills in technical/specification writing and interpretation.
- Excellent Communication Skills - Both Written and Verbal
