In this role, as a Controls Engineer you will designing rotating equipment control system using PRISMIC controller and PLC. You will also work with cross functional engineering team and project managers to execute customer/system requirements.

As a Controls Application Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Design of rotating machine control and instrumentation systems including protection systems, synchronisation schemes, excitation systems and terminal cubicles from concept to delivery

  • Create control system logic using PLC & PRISMIC controller applications

  • Review electrical, control and instrumentation circuit design, with input into design office

  • Prepare and review technical specifications including hardware & functional design

  • Create test & validation specification including configuration files for designed control system

  • Work with tendering team to prepare and review technical documentation based on customer specifications

  • Provide technical support to customers, sales, manufacturing, testing, commissioning activities as required

  • Participate in cross-functional activities such as customer meetings, quality improvements, product and project reviews

  • Play a cross functional role in discussing and agreeing corrective and preventative actions on QA issues.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Controls/Electrical/Instrumentation discipline) or relevant 

  • Have Proven experience in control equipment’s design application such as electrical power system, generator, control panel, power excitation system, switchgear, automatic voltage regulators, load sharing equipment, synchronizers, protection relays.

  • Experience in PLC programming and controller/IED configurations.

  • Interpret and design electrical circuits, PLC’s

  • Create technical design specification and hardware design specification.

  • Have knowledge of software-based microsystems / control and communication systems including Modbus and Ethernet (will be an advantage)

  • Have knowledge of IEC61850 (will be an advantage)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
