Corporate Finance M&A Associate
We are recruiting an Associate for a Corporate Finance M&A team within a large software group, which is a division of a huge international listed software group. The business are part of a global organisation that acquires, manages and builds software companies in various markets.
As a key member of the team, you will have an opportunity to add value through the entire M&A cycle, working with a driven, high-energy M&A team and senior leaders within the organisation. This role is a hybrid role so our client is flexible on your location but being somewhere where you able to come into the Birmingham office when required would be ideal.
Job Responsibilities:
- Engaging with acquisition targets’ shareholders, executives and financial advisors
- Evaluating the quality of prospective vertical-market software acquisitions
- Organizing, analysing and presenting preliminary information received from potential acquisition targets
- Building valuation models to determine price and structure of potential offers
- Conducting financial and operational due diligence, with varying levels of involvement across due diligence activities of cross functional teams, including specialists in human resources, research and development, tax and legal departments
- Participating actively with the execution of M&A transactions
- Preparing investment memorandums, discussing the investment rationale and strategy for the business post-closing; and
- Assist in the integration of newly acquired businesses and the tracking of post-closing performance, reporting to Group and Portfolio leadership.
- Using your initiative to spot opportunities to improve performance and to communicate these insights back to the senior management
- Willingness to travel nationally / internationally to fully meet the needs of the role
Job Qualifications:
- Experience at a top-tier accounting firm (ACA/ACCA qualified), consulting firm, investment banking, with preference given to those with an accounting/finance degree and/or audit experience.
- Some exposure to a deals focused environment, whether that be Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Corporate Restructuring, Investment Banking etc.
- Excellent academic performance in an undergraduate degree and strong performance at your current employer.
- Strong Excel skills, proficient in building complex models and highly quality decision making and problem solving.
- Capable of translating raw / imperfect data into thoughtful analysis that will be delivered to senior executives
- Strong time management skills, detail-oriented and able to grasp new concept quickly while dealing with initial ambiguity and imperfect data.
- Able to work variable hours with high career ambitions to grow in the M&A group, and wider organisation as a leader of tomorrow.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the confidence and polish to speak with Senior Executives, prospects, lawyers, accountants and investment bankers.
- A strong understanding (or interest/curiosity) in the technology and the software industry is an asset.
