Main Purpose of the Role:
- Manage the Corporate Tax compliance function for a portfolio of clients
- Deal with HMRC enquiries into the affairs of those clients
- Provide advisory and consultancy support on a broad range of ad hoc projects to the Tax Partner and other Partners or Associates
- Oversee the Corporate Tax workflow including meeting deadlines, setting budgets and billing.
2. Environment of the Job:
Alliotts LLP is a dynamicmulti-disciplinary accountancy and business advisory practice operating from two offices - London and Guildford. The Firm comprises 12Partners who have the breadth of experience and the acumen to enable the Firm to get quickly to the heart of client matters and build a thorough understanding of the issues. The post holder will be based in the London office but may be required to attend the Guildford office.
3. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the compliance function for Corporate Tax clients. This includes:
- Preparation and review of corporation tax returns for a range of complex clients
- Monitoring tax return progress to ensure timely completion and submission to the Revenue
- Advising Corporate Tax clients of tax liabilities due on a timely basis
- Liaising directly with clients to ensure both accurate and prompt completion of tax returns
- Communicating effectively with client’s both orally and in writing
- Dealing with all client queries promptly and efficiently
- Reporting to the client partner on all matters relevant to the client’s tax affairs
- Working on a broad range of ad hoc tax consultancy assignments is a considerable part of the role. This may include reorganisations, R & D tax, share schemes, property hive ups, international tax etc.
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and following these through with the Tax Partner and the relevant partners or associates
- Dealing with detailed HMRC enquiries from inception to completion
- Management of Work in Progress and timely billing
- Supporting the wider tax team and mentoring and developing junior members of staff
Other Duties and Tasks:
- Attend clients’ premises as and when required
- Work with Partners, and staff to provide a personal, professional service for the benefit of both clients and the Firm.

Decision Making / Freedom to Act:
This is a senior role in which the individual will have a high degree of autonomy and will take necessary decisions in the ordinary course of providing a comprehensive tax service to clients.
Dimensions of Job:
Overall responsibility for the compliance function for approx. 100 Corporate Tax clients including large companies, owner managed businesses, groups and sector specific companies. The role will be approximately 40% advisory/60% compliance work.
