Introduction
Our client is looking for a Cost Estimator to provide estimating support for high profile, complex Engineering projects within Rail.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of managing cost estimation and cost management within Rail, Highways or Critical National Infrastructure.
This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week.
Key responsibilities
- Perform complex cost estimates and develop estimating deliverables.
- Establish contingency requirements within the overall budget envelope.
- You will be specifically responsible for the delivery of multiple commissions.
- Drive the development and use of Cost X, Cost OS and other established estimating software.
- Develop, mentor and support your teams on project / technical delivery.
- Identify continuous development within estimating.
- Continually monitor progress against targets, identify risks and provide solutions to achieve successful business outcomes.
- Support with the estimating business development activity.
- Monitor and manage estimating activity and associated expenditure within your remit.
- Project Health Checks Risk register review and updates.
Skills & experience
- Recognised expertise in estimating services across Infrastructure, Rail or Highways.
- Technical ability to challenge engineering teams and identify/cost efficient design solutions.
- Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, ACostE, ICES or similar.
- Leadership experience.
- Quantity surveying skills and comprehensive understanding of the construction industry.
