SalaryResponsibilities of a Cover Teacher
Cover Teachers (also known as Cover Supervisors) are used in secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is not available. They are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can have time away from the classroom to carry out other duties (planning, assessment, or training days). They may also cover lessons for teachers who are away from school due to sickness or any other absence.
Cover Teachers ensure that students are engaged in their classwork and will promote good behaviour. They will promptly deal with any conflict in line with the school's established behaviour policies, encouraging all students to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

As an Academics Cover Teacher, you will:
- Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE's at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent; including English and Maths.
- Have a positive can do attitude to respond to busy schools. Calls for work can be from 7:00am in the morning.
- Be able to get to our partnership schools in Stoke-on-Trent & Newcastle-under-Lyme by 8.30am with 30-60 minutes notice.
- Competence in using software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Have a basic understanding of the national curriculum.
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service or to be prepared to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
Previous expierence working with students of the relevant age is desirable, however all qualifications and experience with young people and children will be considered for this role.
