Creative Heritage Resident Artist

The Art St George's programme (part of St George's Hospital Charity) brings art and creativity into our hospitals, with an aim to positively impact the experience of being in hospital at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust through our participatory arts programme, temporary exhibitions, staff engagement initiatives, one-off commissions and Art and Heritage collection.

With thanks to a generous grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, for a new project 'Our Hospital: conserving, curating and responding to St George's Art and Heritage Collection', the team have an ambition to focus more attention on our Art and Heritage Collection: auditing, relabelling, conserving and increasing access through making the collection available online to the public and an engagement programme to preserve, and tell, the heritage stories of the hospital, its staff, patients and local community.

Our Hospital will bring the collection to audiences within the hospital and in our local community through new interpretations, displays, workshops and creative responses to gather new heritage and stories to preserve, and respond to, the rich heritage of the hospital, its people and local community.

The Creative Heritage Resident Artist will plan and lead high-quality creative sessions with our community, engaging people with the St George's Art and Heritage Collection through creative workshops and activities. The Resident Artist will deliver sessions in public spaces, outpatient clinics and inpatient wards across St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites, as well as externally with local community groups, led in partnership with external creative organisations to reach new groups of local residents and bring their stories of the hospital into the site through new exhibitions.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are currently underrepresented within the Arts & Health and Heritage sectors.
