The Arts St George's participatory arts programme (part of St George's Hospital Charity) encourages creative collaboration between artists and our hospital community, with a focus on learning together and creative self-expression. The artists who work on our programme are encouraged to share their artistic practice and process with participants. Through this approach we aim to support wellbeing, provide opportunities to gain new skills and confidence, bring people together and reach those who may ordinarily experience barriers to taking part in arts or cultural events. We began the St George's Resident Artist Programme in March 2022 and have seen the profound impact the creatives had on our hospital community.
With thanks to a generous grant from the Friends of Queen Mary's Hospital, we are now expanding our participatory arts offer, delivering a range of tailored arts initiatives at Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton.
Working in partnership with the Queen Mary's Hospital Resident Artist (music), the Queen Mary's Hospital Resident Artist (Visual Arts) will plan and lead high-quality creative sessions with patients, their families and staff, helping improve the experience of being in hospital. They will deliver sessions in public spaces, outpatient clinics and inpatient wards across Queen Mary's Hospital encouraging people to take part where appropriate. The Queen Mary's Hospital Resident Artists will form part of our wider Resident Artist team and will meet termly with our other artists for evaluation and reflection sessions where possible.
We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are currently underrepresented within the Arts & Health sectors.
