Job Description
- Debt Collection: Take charge of collecting debts from all accounts, ensuring timely payments to minimise aged debt and maintain healthy cash flow.
- Issue Resolution: Proactively address issues to prevent an increase in aged debt, resolving them in a timely manner to maintain financial stability.
- Policy Enforcement: Implement and enforce company credit and allowances policies, along with other relevant policies, to uphold consistency and mitigate risks effectively.
- Credit Evaluation: Assess and grant credit within agreed authority levels, balancing risk management with business opportunities.
- Promotion of Direct Debit: Drive initiatives to increase the number of customers paying by direct debit, streamlining payment processes and improving cash flow.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate strong and productive relationships with customers and internal staff to facilitate effective debt management and collaboration.
- Reporting: Provide regular progress reports on all aspects of debt to your line manager, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- System Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and identify any weaknesses that could lead to inaccuracies in debt reporting, promptly reporting findings to facilitate corrective action.
- Process Improvement: Implement new processes and procedures to reflect changes within the business environment, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in debt management.
- Team Support: Be a flexible team player, ready to support colleagues within the department as needed to achieve collective goals.
Qualifications
Skills
- Customer service skills - experience of working with and providing a service to internal and external customers.
- Strong verbal communications skills are essential.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines to meet customer requirements.
- A proactive approach to resolving customer problems and queries.
Qualifications & Experience
- Accountancy skills - GCSE Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent eg Numeracy at Level 2.
- Demonstrates the capacity to learn the required accounting skills during training.
- Clerical skills - GCSE English at Grade C or above, or equivalent eg Literacy at Level 2.
- Excellent keyboard skills: ability to work with accuracy and good attention to detail.
- IT Skills - Confident user of Microsoft packages, including Word and Excel
