Job Description

We recognise the value in having people with a variety of backgrounds, experience and skills in our business. That means the role requirements here should be seen as a guide, not a checklist. If you have more, less or different experiences, but really relevant skills, we’d love to hear from you.

We work flexibly and will help you to find a healthy balance of remote working and time in our fantastic Southampton office, collaborating, taking part in events and getting to know people that makes working with us so rewarding. We welcome the opportunity to discuss reduced hours and job share arrangements.

The Role

The Crew Compliance Manager has the primary responsibility to ensure that all crew members embarking on the Carnival UK fleet possess the necessary documentation to comply with international maritime regulations.

This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of compliance, safety and efficiency in our onboard operations. Delivering the highest standards in Crew Compliance provides a significant benefit to our onboard crew offices and ensures we are having a positive impact on all our fleet colleagues.

You will

  • Oversee the collection, verification, and maintenance of all required documentation for crew members joining the Carnival UK Fleet. Ensuring that documents, including passports, visas, seafarer's books, and relevant certifications, are up-to-date and comply with international and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with CUK’s global network of Global Talent Partners and our team at Carnival Support Services India (CSSI) who support the delivery of our Crew Compliance requirements.
  • Stay abreast of changes in maritime regulations, immigration policies, and other relevant legislation to ensure continuous compliance. Ensuring the CUK’s documentation requirements, and the associated policies and procedures are well documented and periodically assessed.
  • Proactively report and address areas of potential non-compliance to ensure that we can sufficiently respond to any embarkation risks.
  • Develop and implement a systematic audit program to regularly assess the compliance status of crew documentation, both with regard to embarkation readiness and for crew members already onboard.
  • Work with Flag States (UK and Bermuda) to ensure our approach to compliance, documentation handling and any associated changes are correctly governed and implemented fleetwide.
  • Manage a small team of Crew Compliance Consultants including the development and growth of direct reports. Providing leadership and support to movtivate the team to deliver the best crew experience possible.

Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK07 and is offered on a full-time permanent basis, with hybrid working in our Southampton office (min. of 3 days per week office-based).

Occasional travel will also be required.

About You

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

  • Knowledge of policy and process dynamics in a shared service environment running business processes to support policy and service delivery.
  • Ability to use data to support logical decision making.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience of Audit processes and requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build strong effective relationships and influence stakeholders both internal and external.
  • A Strategic mindset

Proven experience in Crew Compliance with a knowledge of international maritime regulations, immigration laws and industry best practices will also be advantageous.
