Who we need This is an exciting new post at Nottingham College within our brand-new Step into STEM department at Highfields. Step into STEM is aimed at giving students the confidence and skills required to move onto a full-time course at Nottingham College. The programs within the department embed STEM alongside English and Maths with the aim to re-engage students back into education. This is a fantastic opportunity for either an experienced leader and manager or an experienced teacher looking for the next step in their career. This role will give you an opportunity to make a real difference and an opportunity to be central to the growth of Highfields and the success of this new department. The key roles of a Curriculum manager include: Model and promote excellence and innovation in teaching, learning and assessment. Undertake course co-ordination and planning to produce a scheme which delivers sequenced content and assessment Implement strategies to ensure effective development of literacy and numeracy, and other cross curricular initiatives within the subject curriculum Work with allocated teaching staff to improve aspects of their delivery, utilising your own skills or the college teaching and learning team where appropriate. Work with college management team to provide a vibrant and well-resourced teaching environment. Ensure the implementation of the college behaviour policy for students and promote positive behaviours. Contribute to and comply with all college quality improvement and quality assurance activities in a timely manner Lead all relevant line management activities for allocated subject staff and follow the college performance management system both as an individual and as a manager. Arrange cover when required for lessons within allocated subject areas What you’ll bring The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher or manager with a strong SEN background. This person will have experience in an alternative educational setting and experience with challenging behaviours. This opportunity is the gives the chance to shape the future of this department and be central to deliver outstanding education at Highfields.
