Hybrid working (1 day a quarter in our office based in Chippenham, Wiltshire)
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Data Analyst to join our team at Good Energy. In this role, you'll collaborate with Operations Managers and the wider Operations Team to develop insights and analytics using SQL, Power BI, and Excel as well as reducing manual dependencies and building efficiencies within our operations team.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Take ownership of operational reporting within specified areas, ensuring accuracy and maintenance at all levels of the organisation, from Team to Senior Leadership Level.
  • Identify manually intensive processes within our Operations Team and develop improvements to automate these processes using SQL, Power BI, and Power Automate.
  • Collaborate with Operational Leaders to build models comparing large data sets from internal and external datasets and providing valuable insights to improve operational strategies.
  • Work with other Data Analysts within Good Energy to ensure consistency of reporting, look for improvements, and share good practice.
  • Improve existing manual processes, building efficiencies with guidance and support from leaders and data engineers.
  • Collaborate with other analysts to ensure consistency in reporting, identify improvements, and share best practices.
  • Working with 3rd parties (e.g. debt Collection Agencies, DCs, MOPs, Credit Reference Agencies, etc.) to ensure daily data transfers are as efficient and accurate as possible and that all data is sent and received in line with agreed timeframes.
  • Adapt to changing priorities based on business needs, working on a project-to-project basis.
  • Plan and forecast development work to keep stakeholders informed of delivery timescales, ensuring completion within agreed timeframes.


What you'll need to succeed


Essential:
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, and Excel with extensive experience in report building.
  • Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL select statements, handling data quality issues, business rules, logic problems, and collaborating with data and business experts comfortably.
  • Expertise in utilizing Power Query to integrate data into Power BI, with experience in M and DAX. Familiarity with other data visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlik is acceptable, but a willingness to familiarize oneself with Power BI is essential.
  • Strong process improvement mindset with a proven track record of driving change and achieving results, coupled with a keen interest in leveraging technology to enhance efficiency.
  • Analytical and inquisitive nature with a natural aptitude for solving complex problems.
  • Experience in developing comprehensive reports that address the reporting needs of business areas.
  • Understanding of and support for audit functions, organizing work to facilitate audits.
  • Proactive approach, capable of taking direction on desired outcomes and independently driving projects to completion with support from leaders and specialists.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to forecast, plan work, and provide accurate timelines for completion.
  • Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills, adept at working with leaders, specialists, and Data Analysts to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical colleagues.
  • Ability to produce high-quality, concise documentation to support oneself and colleagues in using and maintaining the tools produced.

Desirables:
  • You have worked in the Energy Industry.
  • Mentoring people in the use of SQL.
  • You’ve experience in the Microsoft Power Apps or Python.
