Purpose of the role
Colas has a strong ethical focus and as such has a Social Value team whose role is to ensure we are making a real difference in the communities we serve. The SV team support operational teams to have a social value delivery plan in place made up of activities such as employing local people, recruiting from vulnerable groups such as care leavers, arranging charity events and environmental volunteering, engaging with schools, and delivering work experience/pre-employment programmes.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join Colas Ltd at our Solihull Head office on a part time basis. Working alongside our Social Value and Environmental teams to improve the way we capture and represent sustainability data for internal and external reporting.
Main Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst for the Social Value team you will extract raw data from multiple software sources used by Colas to record data about social value and sustainability. This extraction may involve excel, SQL, Python amongst other data extraction tools and also include recommendations for improving current process or storage facilities. You will identify and correct gaps in the data recorded, highlighting new data Colas could record for better analysis and identifying anomalies in the data, working with the team to ensure accuracy. You will contribute to the creation of new visual sustainability dashboards, then maintain was complete, to enable our project teams and business areas to easily understand and track progress against target using leading and lagging indicators. You will be involved in managing monthly KPI data and present it by contract, business area and whole Colas Ltd in visual dashboards, cross referencing this to case studies and collating information to produce reports for internal and external stakeholders. You will analyse data trends to identify areas where the social value team can maximise return on investment. You will analyse and present Colas social value and environmental data, understanding what open data is available, to develop new ways of understanding impact. Travel will be required in this role which will be reimbursed by Colas Ltd.
Ideal candidate
The successful candidate will have a university degree in Data Analytics or something equivalent. We are open to applicants who may be returning back into work after a career break. The successful candidate will need to be proficient in using Data analysis tools: microsoft excel, powerbim tableau and python.
As a Data Analyst you must be a good communicator, happy to liaise with project managers, supervisors and other departments. You will be highly organised with an excellent attention to detail. You will have strong relationship management skills and be able to work autonomously.
